I've been professionally/training voice for the past 7 years, most of the time abroad,but I've
been with Alise Richel for the past year and a half.  I must say, much that i've learnt outside, but studying with Alise is a whole different level.  She's responsible for a huge improvement in my technique and assisted me in many ways to allow the beauty of my voice to come through. What I like the most about her as a coach is the fact that she acknowledges and respects the uniqueness of one's voice (and that, in my opinion, should always be praised) and, from that, she works on the voice so it can be used to the fullest and best in a healthy way. It was like this with me and i couldn't be more thankful, because if you sing professionally there's nothing worse than having someone wanting to fit you in a box with everyone else because that's all they know. She know's more and it's evident. My tone is richer and my voice certainly much more consistent.  She's helped me not only in singing, but even her tips on general health have helped me a lot! I believe there's much more to learn, but now I know that I have found the one to go to look for the answers.

I have been singing for 35 years. In that time I've had many vocal instructors, but none of them even comes close to approaching Alise Richel's technique.  The feeling one gets of control and flexibility is unparalleled.  When I met her I found me!

I am very fortunate to have Alise as my vocal teacher because in a short time I was able to become not only knowledgeable but, more importantly, the singer I always felt I should be.  She promised that I would find my own sound and that was true. I am now able to fully express the meaning of my songs. The quality of my voice gets better with every lesson. Before working with Alise I was known as a very talented pianist, graduating from Los Angeles Country for the Arts - studying jazz piano - then moving on to a quick full ride year at Cal State Northridge while playing professionally in the Latin scene and at LA's finest hotels and country clubs. During this time I was taking private vocal lessons with teachers who had Master's degrees and PHD's, in addition to reading anything I could get my hands on concerning vocal pedagogy.  Nothing was working. Yes, I had a high A, but everything was throat singing and sounded like cats in a bag being hit by a bat.  At that point in stepped my father who had a banking friend who had graduated from NYU and at one time was a successful opera singer.  This friend had gone to several of my performances.  One day he happened to give my father a copy of his graduate thesis on "Bel Canto." That is when my father decided that I would begin private lessons in "Bel Canto." My father spoke to Alise Richel Adler to have me teach her "Bel Canto" method which is very unique.  I cannot express enough how great she is and how grateful I am to have her in my life.  Thank you Alise for all you have done for me.

Alise is a wonderful singing teacher and vocal technician who has developed an intricate but comprehensible system of instruction based on her insightful understanding of the art of singing. I have been studying intensively with her for nearly two years. Short as this time period appears to be, I have significantly improved my voice with her help. As a foreign student who has lived in China, England and the United States, I have much experience with different singing teachers whose methods and techniques are acknowledged by some critics. But none of them is as good or helpful as Alise, who has helped me to discover my voice and own rendition of my favorite songs. Alise's dedication to teaching was another highlight of my experience with her.  Anyone who wants to become a professional singer or simply loves to sing can benefit significantly from such dedication combined with her knowledge of singing.

It was a stroke of luck when I found Ms. Richel and I won't look back.  I am a Broadway musical veteran who had grown tired and bored with my voice.  I wasn't sure of how much further I could grow. Now I know with continued application, my voice will keep progressing to its full potential. Alise Richel is a treasure of a vocal coach.  She taught me how to awaken my voice with breathing techniques that were never shown to me by any other voice coach.  She also helped me to love my new voice and match styles that I would not otherwise have thought to sing on a regular basis. Anyone who trains with Ms. Richel will be a smarter, more capable vocalist by far and will have found a jewel of a coach who possesses endless experience and capability. I simply love her!

 I came to Alise not knowing what to expect.  I had visited with other singing teachers and left feeling unsure.  So, we sat down, she on her couch, and I in the chair I have come to know so well.  I said a few things about myself, and then she spoke to me in that no-nonsense way she has about her.  Here was a woman who had seen and heard many things in her lifetime.  I was immediately at ease.  Her teaching will ground you.  But what you learn about your own voice and what it can do will astound you.  She is the only vocal teacher I've ever had who took my singing as seriously as I did.  She discovered the heights I knew my voice could reach.  Alise will listen for your unique voice, not fit you into a mold.  And she will teach you well because she teaches with a beautiful combination of wisdom, confidence, generosity and flexibility.  There is no doubt in my mind that Alise was born to be the phenomenal voice teacher she is.

 I came to Alise unsure of my voice, almost embarrassed by it.  I had sung in choirs and musicals growing up but I knew I wanted more.  I sang to myself ALL the time, and I knew I had a sound somewhere.  I just didn't know where.  Alise has worked miracles with my vocal technique, vocal range, style and self-confidence.  She has patiently and expertly helped me discover and refine my voice week by week.  And we work hard.  It is HARD work but Alise never quits and inspires me to never quit.  I now sing at least twice a week at public venues and recently was the featured performer at the Dresden and The M Bar. It is my great joy to be Alise's pupil.  Now when I sing I am no longer terrified, but at my happiest.  She is a wonderful, extraordinary voice teacher and she cares.  She CARES.  That is a rare thing in LA.  I could not recommend her more highly.

I have been taking voice lessons from Alise Richel for some time now.  She is a patient and determined singing teacher who has helped me become a better singer than I ever thought I could be.  I still remember my first lesson with Alise.  She was quick at making me feel at ease with her welcoming, disciplined manner.  I went from being a shy and timid singer to one who is confident in her ability, due to Alise's expertise. The benefits of having Alise as my voice teacher have been multifold.  Her vocal techniques and singing exercises during our voice lessons have helped me to find my voice, but not just my singing voice and vocal range.  I have come to apply the skills learned during my voice lessons to my outside life.
